Pinterest has released a visual search tool powered by artificial intelligence called Lens. Pinterest is currently the second largest search engine. Google being the largest already has an image searching tool, but because of Pinterest is a visual bookmarking tool, this innovation looks to be very promising for the company and advertisers.

Why would you use it? Your co-worker is wearing a gorgeous dress, she can’t seem to remember where she purchased it. You take a picture of her dress and Pinterest will find similar dresses via its Pins.
How to use it:
Before we give you a step-by-step breakdown of how to use Lens, we need to disclose that Lens is still in a beta stage, meaning not everything is perfect. Lens is currently available to all users on iPhone and Android Pinterest application.
Don’t have time to do a real-time search? You can upload any image from your gallery to search via Lens!
Where should we use it?
So far Lens works with clothing, decor, and food. See something you like? All you have to do is take a picture and upload to Lens. It will do the rest.
Keep in mind, as we mentioned above, Lens is still in beta. If the results aren’t 100% accurate, don’t get discouraged. Pinterest will continue to update until it is close to perfect. In the meanwhile, you have the option of entering the best describing keywords by yourself.
